No, we weren't on City Hall Plaza moshing to
the
Dropkick Murphys, but we were there to help
several of
the Government Center vendors who were
displaced
on Monday, October 1. Dewey Square patrons thus
got a taste of Freitas Farms, Silverbrook Farms
and
the Danish Pastry House, in addition to our
Monday
regulars including Nourse Farm and When Pigs
Fly.Hope you enjoyed the visit, happy to help!

One of our favorite partners at Dewey is the Fort
Point
Artists Community (FPAC), our neighbors across
the
channel who rotate arts vendors at the market every
Wednesday. They are the original Open Studios
event
in Boston, and their 28th Annual celebration is
October 19-21. Hope you'll visit them and
support our
local artists!

This season, we've offered music, authors and ethnic
vendors from Nuestra Culinary Ventures as
part of
our "Dewey Live" program. our most recent
visitor was Clara Silverstein, who sold and
autographed copies of her new book, The Boston
Chefs Table. Copies can be ordered via
Amazon.com
or ecookbooks.com. Try it!
Got an idea for livening up Dewey Square? Let us
know! We're always open to new ideas. "Dewey
Live" is made possible with the help of our
neighbors at State Street.

On Tuesday night, September 25, the Boston Public
Market hosted its Annual Chefs Harvest Dinner
at more than twenty restaurants around the area.
For the fourth year, people were treated to amazing
multi-course dinners, chats with the chefs, and gift
bags sponsored by our friends at Verrill
Farms. A full list of the restaurants, who are so
generous to us, is on our website,
www.bostonpublicmarket.org.
Thanks also to our sponsors and patrons, including
Blue Cross, Fidelity, Plymouth Rock, Mass
Development, the Boston Foundation, INNOVA
and many companies or individuals who put
together tables, bought seats or
couldn't make it but sent in donations.

What else can we tell you?
On Friday, September 28, the James Beard
Foundation held its "Taste America" event
at Veronique in Brookline featuring a number of the
best local chefs. BPM was the local group chosen to
recieve a donation from the event.
We are working to put together a "focus
group" of
restaurants and farmers post-market season to
discuss how to increase farm to restaurant
relationships. Drop us a line if interested in
participating.
Thanks to Devra First of the Boston
Globe's "Dishing" blog for a nice mention on the
night of the Chefs Harvest Dinner.
Congrats to our new President, Don Wiest,
who has been leading our site search for a
permanent market. Don has an ambitious agenda
and plans to move forward quickly towards a
permanent public market.
